Bhubaneswar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has recently appointed 30 new office bearers for its Odisha chapter, marking a significant change three months after Bhakta Charan Das assumed the role of state party chief.
A statement from party general secretary KC Venugopal revealed that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge has introduced a new team that includes seven vice-presidents, ten general secretaries, twelve secretaries, and one treasurer.
Among the newly appointed vice-presidents are fifth-term MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati, three-time legislator Ramesh Jena, two-time MLA CS Raazen Ekka, and former MLAs Santosh Singh Saluja, Debasis Patnaik, and Lalatendu Mohapatra. Notably, Sasmita Behera, a prominent female leader, has also been appointed as a vice-president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC).
The general secretaries now include MLAs Ashok Das, Appal Swamy Kadraka, Prafulla Pradhan, Mangu Khilla, Pabitra Saunta, Nilamadhab Hikaka, ex-MLA Subarna Nayak, and youth leaders Syed Yashir Nawaz, Bijaynanda Chaulia, and Madhusmita Sethy.
Siddharth Swarup Dash has been designated as the treasurer.
The new secretaries consist of Tuleswar Naik, Sasmita Panda, Shilpisri Harichandan, Debasmita Sharma, Lakshmidhar Singh, Dilip Duria, Rupak Turuk, Simanchal Giri Ulaka, Manisha Tripathy, Sakka Sujit, Mohan Hembram, and Anima Minz.
Additionally, the AICC has confirmed the appointments of Satyajeet Gomang as the chairman and Santosh Pradhan as the co-chairman of the party's social media department.
Following the Lok Sabha and Odisha assembly elections last year, the Congress president had disbanded all organizational committees of the OPCC.
