Congress Critiques PM Modi's International Engagements
On Wednesday, Pawan Khera, the head of the Congress media and publicity department, raised concerns regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign trips, coinciding with his two-day visit to Israel aimed at strengthening bilateral relations. In response to Piyush Goyal's remark that 'Rahul Gandhi has made compromises,' Khera urged the BJP to address the questions surrounding the current government instead of casting doubt on previous administrations.
Speaking to a news outlet, Khera questioned, 'Is Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister? Who decides the Prime Minister's foreign visits? Under what pressure did he agree to trade agreements? Who is in charge of the government? If the public is upset with us, that’s a matter between them and us. After being in power for 12 years, it’s time for you to answer these questions. What is your connection to Epstein? Why are you afraid?'
Prime Minister Modi has arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel, at the invitation of his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, for a state visit. The purpose of this trip is to deepen the 'strong and multifaceted strategic partnership' between the two nations. Amid ongoing political controversies regarding the Youth Congress protests at the UK summit, Congress MP Imran Masood also questioned the Prime Minister about the interim trade agreement with the United States.
Masood urged PM Modi to raise questions in the Israeli parliament regarding the ongoing war with Palestine. He stated, 'It is fortunate that the leader of the Youth Congress is leading this fight, and we all stand with him. The Prime Minister has committed grave injustice by endangering the country through agreements with the United States. Now, the 'world guru' should have the courage to ask in the Israeli parliament why innocent children in Gaza were killed.' This response from Congress follows Goyal's accusation that the Gandhi family is a completely compromising political family and that Congress is a compromising political party. During a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Goyal also criticized decisions made by former Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru.
