Congress Protests Against BJP Leader's Offensive Remarks Towards Women
Congress Demonstrates Against Derogatory Comments
The Congress party in Jammu & Kashmir organized a significant protest today in response to BJP leader Vikram Randhawa's disrespectful comments directed at UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, which were deemed offensive to all women.
During the protest, an effigy of Vikram Randhawa was set ablaze, reflecting the deep anger and hurt his remarks have caused.
Senior leaders from the Congress party joined the protest, chanting slogans and demanding an apology from the BJP leadership for Randhawa's comments, as well as calling for disciplinary action against him.
The remarks made by Randhawa were described as not only offensive to Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi but also as an affront to the dignity of all women in India, undermining the values that are integral to Indian society.
In a press conference, Congress leader Namrta Sharma expressed her condemnation of Randhawa's comments, insisting on his immediate suspension. She emphasized that Sonia Gandhi's sindoor symbolizes not just tradition but also sacrifice and devotion to the nation, and that using such sentiments for political gain reflects a lack of ethics among BJP leaders.
Zahida Khan also voiced her disapproval, stating that such language is unacceptable in any civilized society.
PCC working President Raman Bhalla, along with Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma and former MLC Ved Parkash Mahajan, led the protest, denouncing the BJP's regressive and misogynistic attitudes. They urged the BJP leadership to publicly apologize and take stringent measures against Vikram Randhawa to uphold the integrity of political discourse.
