Imran Masood's Reaction to Arrests Linked to Terror Plot

Congress MP Imran Masood has responded to the recent arrests of eight suspects allegedly connected to a terrorist plot targeting Hindu temples in the national capital. After the accused were placed in police custody for seven days, Masood expressed skepticism about the credibility of the terrorism investigation during a conversation with a news agency. He claimed that individuals can easily be framed, citing instances where people have spent 20 to 30 years in prison before being exonerated. He raised concerns about what actions are being taken against those responsible for wrongful imprisonments.

Masood further stated that authorities can label anyone as a terrorist, and that person may only clear their name after two decades. He emphasized that it is impossible to definitively declare such accusations as entirely false or completely accurate, suggesting that distractions could be a motive behind these actions. He insisted that accountability should extend to officials who falsely implicate others. This statement follows claims made by Delhi police, who asserted that they had thwarted a significant terrorist conspiracy allegedly orchestrated by a handler from Bangladesh linked to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence and the leadership of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Investigators noted that the module had conducted detailed reconnaissance of several temples in Delhi, with videos found on the suspects' mobile devices.

Police sources have described this operation as a major success, alleging that the suspects were part of a cross-border network operating under the direction of handlers based outside India.
