Congress MP's Strong Criticism of PM Modi

On Monday, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh expressed his disapproval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to condemn the attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel. He criticized Modi for referencing the COVID-19 pandemic during his statement on the conflict in West Asia, labeling it as a prime example of self-praise and biased rhetoric.

Ramesh took to X to comment that Modi's brief speech in the Lok Sabha was, as usual, a perfect example of self-aggrandizement, cowardice, and biased dialogue. He noted that not a single word was uttered in condemnation of the ongoing airstrikes on Iran by the US and Israel. While he acknowledged that Iran's attacks on Gulf nations and the Strait of Hormuz are completely unacceptable, he emphasized that the continuous bombing of Iran aimed at regime change and state collapse is equally intolerable.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the Prime Minister continued to boast about India's economic growth. Just days prior, Modi's former chief economic advisor publicly warned that the economic growth figures during Modi's tenure have been significantly exaggerated. Ramesh suggested that Modi seems to believe he can ignore this highly credible and concerning report.

In response to Modi's assertion that the nation faced challenges during the COVID period with unity, Ramesh highlighted the plight and deaths of migrant workers during the pandemic. He stated that it is troubling for the Prime Minister to mention COVID-19, given the disastrous response from his government. The country cannot forget the heartbreaking scenes that became common during that time—millions of migrants walking barefoot towards their homes, thousands dying from oxygen shortages, and millions left unemployed. He expressed hope that this time, preparations would be better.
