Concerns Raised Over Bipartisan Meeting

On Wednesday, Congress MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring expressed his discontent regarding the government's bipartisan meeting concerning the West Asia conflict. He stated that if the meeting is merely a formality, it should not have been convened at all. Warring emphasized that if the government is genuinely serious about the meeting, the Prime Minister should personally attend. He questioned the purpose of such a meeting if the Prime Minister does not participate, noting that significant decisions in the country are often made by 'two friends'—Amit Shah and Modi.

Prime Minister's Recent Remarks

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent speech in the Rajya Sabha, Warring pointed out that Modi indicated the nation must be prepared to face any crisis, suggesting that a serious situation may be looming. He expressed concerns that a scenario similar to the COVID-19 pandemic could arise again. Warring recalled a recent discussion about the LPG cylinder shortage, where ministers denied any shortages, only for the issue to resurface, contradicting their earlier statements.

Call for Bipartisan Dialogue

D. Raja, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), also urged the Prime Minister to convene a bipartisan meeting to gather opinions from all political parties. Speaking to a news outlet, he reminisced about former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's practice of calling such meetings during national crises. Raja stressed the need for India to condemn the ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Israel and to demand an immediate cessation of hostilities. He advocated for resolving issues through national dialogue and diplomacy.

Urgent Need for Political Consensus

Raja reiterated that if Prime Minister Modi is truly serious, he should organize a bipartisan meeting to hear the views of all political factions. He insisted that India must denounce the actions of the U.S. and Israel regarding the war and call for its termination. He questioned whether the Prime Minister is prepared for serious dialogue with domestic political parties, recalling how Vajpayee convened bipartisan meetings during crises, such as the one involving Iraq.
