Bhopal/Seoni, June 4: On Thursday morning, Congress MLA Yogendra Singh 'Baba' along with two others, including his security personnel, narrowly avoided serious injury when their Scorpio SUV collided with a school boundary wall and subsequently caught fire on National Highway-34 in Seoni district, according to police reports.

The incident took place around 7:00 AM near Banjari village as the MLA was en route from Jabalpur to Ghurwara village.

While trying to avoid a cow on the highway, the vehicle lost control and crashed into the wall of a nearby school.

“Immediately after the impact, smoke began to pour from the front of the vehicle, and it soon erupted into flames,” a police official stated.

Thanks to their quick thinking, MLA Yogendra Singh, his gunman Raju Dhurve, and driver Anu managed to exit the vehicle swiftly and escaped with only minor injuries.

All three were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, where doctors confirmed they were out of danger with just minor bruises.

Local residents played a crucial role in extinguishing the fire before it could spread further. “We were alerted about the accident in the morning and quickly arrived at the scene. The vehicle was ablaze after hitting the school wall, but thankfully, the MLA and his team had already evacuated safely. We cleared the wreckage to restore traffic flow,” a Dhuma police station official reported.

In response to the incident, Umang Singhar, the Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, acknowledged the news and expressed relief. He shared on X, “On National Highway-34 (Seoni), the Scorpio belonging to Lakhnadon MLA Yogendra Singh 'Baba' lost control while trying to avoid a cow, crashing into a roadside school's boundary wall and catching fire.”

He further noted that all individuals involved managed to escape the vehicle in time, preventing any fatalities. “The Congress family wishes everyone a speedy recovery and continued safety,” he added.
