The Indian National Congress is expected to nominate Praveen Chakravarthy for the vacant Rajya Sabha seat from Tamil Nadu. According to sources, Chakravarthy will submit his nomination papers at the office of the Assembly Secretary located in the Chennai Secretariat. Girish Chodankar, the Congress in-charge for Tamil Nadu, expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Thiru TVK Vijay and TVK leader Joseph Vijay for allocating the Rajya Sabha seat to Congress under the TVK-led state government.

Concerns Over Funding Allocation

Meanwhile, Praveen Chakravarthy criticized the allocation of funds under the VB-Gram-GI Bill, citing news reports. He pointed out that Tamil Nadu received ₹12,700 crores for the 100-day employment scheme in the fiscal year 2023-24. However, this year, the Modi government has allocated only ₹4,000 crores for the same scheme, reducing Tamil Nadu's funding from 10% to 4%. In contrast, Gujarat's funding has seen a two-and-a-half-fold increase. Chakravarthy questioned the Modi government's apparent bias against Tamils.
