Congress's Candidate for Rajya Sabha

The Indian National Congress is expected to nominate Praveen Chakravarthy for the vacant Rajya Sabha seat from Tamil Nadu. According to sources, Chakravarthy will submit his nomination papers at the office of the Assembly Secretary located in the Chennai Secretariat. Girish Chodankar, the Congress in-charge for Tamil Nadu, expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Thiru TVK Vijay and TVK leader Joseph Vijay for allocating the Rajya Sabha seat to Congress under the TVK-led state government.

Acknowledgment of Political Collaboration

On social media, Chodankar conveyed his heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Vijay for granting the Rajya Sabha seat to the Indian National Congress (INCIndia). He noted that this generous act reflects a deep commitment to strengthening democratic values, mutual respect among coalition partners, and the principles of coalition politics. It sends a powerful message that political collaboration can be based on trust, understanding, and a shared vision for the public.

Chodankar further emphasized that by honoring commitments and steadfastly adhering to promises, Vijay has demonstrated principled leadership, political integrity, and respect for coalition partners. This decision reinforces trust in coalition politics based on mutual respect. The cordial and respectful relationship between Rahul Gandhi and Vijay has further solidified this spirit of partnership and progressive politics. Their commitment to constitutional values, social justice, and inclusive development inspires confidence in a stronger and more united future.

Concerns Over Funding Allocation

Meanwhile, Praveen Chakravarthy criticized the allocation of funds under the VB-Gram-GI Bill, citing news reports. He pointed out that Tamil Nadu received ₹12,700 crores for the 100-day employment scheme in the fiscal year 2023-24. However, this year, the Modi government has allocated only ₹4,000 crores for the same scheme, reducing Tamil Nadu's funding from 10% to 4%. In contrast, Gujarat's funding has seen a two-and-a-half-fold increase. Chakravarthy questioned the Modi government's apparent bias against Tamils.
