Congress Inquiry Team Visits Victim's Family

Keonjhar: A prominent inquiry team from the All India Congress Committee (AICC), led by senior leader Deepa Dasmunsi, has met with the family of a tribal minor girl who was reportedly gangraped and murdered in Keonjhar district. The team is conducting a thorough investigation into this tragic incident.

Joining Dasmunsi were Members of Parliament Ranjit Ranjan, Praniti Shinde, S Jothimani, and Shobha Oza. They engaged with the victim's family and local villagers to collect information, denounce the heinous act, and call for stringent action against those responsible.

The inquiry team emphasized the alarming increase in violence against women, especially within tribal communities, and pledged to elevate this issue to a national platform. "The Congress party intends to present a comprehensive field inquiry report to our leadership and make this a significant topic in Parliament," the members informed the press.

Sources indicate that the minor girl, hailing from the Pandapada police station jurisdiction in the Harichandanpur block, was gangraped and subsequently murdered. Allegedly, her body was hung from a tree to misrepresent the death as a suicide.

In response to the incident, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Charan Das and former OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik instructed a District Congress Committee team to visit the victim's village and connect with her family. Another team, led by former OPCC President Jaydev Jena, also visited, demanding swift justice for the offenders, a Crime Branch investigation, and a compensation of at least 25 lakh rupees from the state government.

Among those present were District Congress president Mohan Parida, former PCC general secretary Manoj Jena, state Tribal Congress president Yashwant Singh Laguri, former PCC secretary Sangram Das, PCC coordinator Sudhanshu Shekhar Deo, former MP Shankuntala Laguri, former MLA Subarna Naik, and former Mahila Congress vice president Sangita Singh.
