Congress Election Campaign Launch in Assam


Guwahati, March 24: According to party insiders, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, will kick off the party's election campaign in Assam following March 26.


As stated by a party official, the Congress campaign will gain momentum after March 26, which marks the final date for withdrawal of nominations. The three prominent leaders will hold numerous public meetings across Assam.


These leaders from Delhi are set to advocate for the party's agenda focused on social welfare and development, as per the sources.


The upcoming election manifesto is expected to emphasize the party's vision for social welfare and developmental initiatives.


In line with the campaign strategy, Priyanka Vadra will particularly aim to attract women voters, who constitute nearly half of Assam's 2.5 crore electorate.


Sources noted that Priyanka had previously visited Assam, engaging with various community members, which will aid in shaping the manifesto.


All central Congress leaders are anticipated to participate in at least five public events and numerous meetings to engage with the electorate.


The campaign will concentrate on approximately 35 constituencies in upper Assam, including Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Jorhat, Majuli, Lakhimpur, and Dhemaji, to challenge the BJP-led NDA.


In a conversation with a media outlet, party leader Pawan Khera mentioned that all central leaders are set to campaign in Assam, with plans currently being finalized. He added that the campaign will underscore the shortcomings of the NDA government while presenting Congress's vision for a developed Assam and Northeast.
