On June 2, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, convened an important meeting in Delhi with Karnataka's Chief Ministerial candidates D.K. Shivakumar and senior leader Siddaramaiah. This gathering aimed to finalize the new cabinet for the state and select candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections. The meeting took place following Siddaramaiah's resignation as Chief Minister, marking the beginning of a leadership transition that allows Shivakumar to take charge of the state government.

On the same day, Shivakumar visited Kharge's residence in the national capital to discuss cabinet formation and significant organizational appointments ahead of the swearing-in ceremony. Venugopal, and other senior leaders held a meeting at Kharge's residence. Shivakumar's swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for June 3 at 4 PM at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru. Prior to this, Siddaramaiah met with party leaders in Delhi, and Karnataka Congress MLA Priyank Kharge discussed his potential role in the new cabinet amid speculations.
