Instructions for District and City Congress Presidents

Kumari Selja, the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and in charge of the party in Uttarakhand, has instructed district and city Congress presidents intending to contest in the upcoming assembly elections to resign from their organizational positions before entering the electoral fray. This directive was issued during a meeting held at the Bijapur State Guest House in Dehradun, which was part of her two-day visit to the state.

During the meeting, Selja reviewed the performance of the newly appointed district and city presidents under the party's organizational restructuring program over the past six months. The discussions focused on organizational activities, election preparations, and strategies to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. Selja commenced her two-day visit to Uttarakhand on June 17, with senior Congress leader Vamshi Reddy also participating in the meeting.

Speaking to reporters, Selja mentioned that they would be meeting with all district presidents and senior leaders today, alongside the heads of the entire organization and central in-charge, including Vamshi Reddy. Party officials presented their work reports and outlined a three-month roadmap for future activities, which the party leadership will review periodically.

Selja urged the district and city presidents to intensify efforts to strengthen the organization, promote the party's ideology at the booth level, and escalate movements against the policies of the BJP. She emphasized the need for organizational unity and encouraged leaders to involve all party workers. Clarifying the party's stance on electoral ambitions, Selja stated that any district or city president wishing to contest in the assembly elections must resign from their organizational role before commencing election preparations.
