Concerns Raised Over Ceasefire Conditions

On Saturday, Congress leader Jignesh Mevani expressed concerns regarding the ceasefire in Operation Sindoor, questioning the government's stance. He accused the administration of yielding to foreign pressure and demanded clarity on the terms of the ceasefire. Mevani criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly retreating under American influence, asking why the remaining terrorists have not been apprehended. He stated to a news agency that it has been a month since the government initiated Operation Sindoor and claimed to have captured one terrorist. Modi often boasts about his strength, claiming India is a global leader, so why have the other four terrorists not been caught yet? Why doesn't he inform the nation about the conditions under which the ceasefire was agreed upon?

Further Allegations on Foreign Influence

Mevani further alleged that there was a time when India held a stronger position, but after American intervention and pressure on Pakistan, the Indian government surrendered. He questioned the reasons behind the ceasefire and the conditions that led to it, insisting that Modi should clarify these points to the public. Directly challenging the Prime Minister, Mevani stated, "I challenge Modi to capture the remaining four terrorists before August 15 instead of distributing sindoor door-to-door."

Critique of American Involvement

Criticizing foreign influence, he remarked, "The United States is continuously tweeting about the situation. They claim that if they had requested it, trade would have ceased. These are official statements. So why is India silent? Why is the U.S. dictating terms in a matter between India and Pakistan?" Previously, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had also attacked the BJP-led government over allegations of U.S. mediation in Operation Sindoor, asserting that Prime Minister Modi followed a call from American leaders, contrasting it with former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's refusal to bow to U.S. pressure during the 1971 war.
