Kharge's Strong Words in Chennai

Chennai: On Tuesday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge intensified his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, initially labeling him a 'terrorist.' However, he later clarified that he was referring to Modi's alleged tactics of 'terrorising' political opponents and the public through the misuse of governmental resources and central agencies to suppress dissent.

During a press conference in Chennai with AICC General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, Kharge's comments targeted the AIADMK's partnership with the BJP. When journalists sought clarification on his initial remark, Kharge explained that he was highlighting how Modi is undermining the democratic structure of the nation. 'He is instilling fear in both the populace and political entities. I did not mean he is a terrorist in the literal sense. He is terrorising... misusing his authority and government apparatus to harass opposition parties,' Kharge stated.

He further claimed that the Election Commission has become an 'extension of the BJP office' and accused the Prime Minister of breaching the Model Code of Conduct during the crucial final phases of the election campaign.
