Congress Leader Takes Legal Action Against AAP

Pratap Singh Bajwa, the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly, has lodged a complaint with the police, seeking to file an FIR against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and other AAP leaders. He accuses them of sharing a manipulated video that allegedly tarnished his reputation. In his complaint, Bajwa stated that AAP officials circulated an edited clip with the intent to defame him. He expressed, 'I am submitting this complaint to request the filing of an FIR against Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann, Harpal Cheema, Aman Arora, and their associates for creating and disseminating a manipulated video aimed at defaming me.'

The original video, posted on the official X handle on June 25 at 3:13 PM, criticized the alleged misconduct of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau during a raid at the residence of MLA Ganiv Kaur. Bajwa highlighted the inappropriateness of their conduct, particularly against a female legislator. However, he claimed that AAP leaders edited the video to remove all references to Ganiv Kaur, falsely portraying that they were defending Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who is currently facing legal proceedings.

Bajwa further stated that AAP leaders widely circulated this manipulated video on social media to damage his image and mislead the public. Describing it as a case of political vendetta, he accused AAP leaders of misusing government machinery and violating provisions of the new Indian justice code (BNS). He urged the police to register an FIR and initiate an investigation, asserting, 'This manipulation has not only harmed my personal and political reputation but also represents a misuse of government machinery for political revenge.'
