Congress Leader Digs into Ram Temple Fund Controversy
Ram Temple Fund Controversy Escalates
The controversy surrounding the Ram Temple fundraising is intensifying. In a recent statement, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh announced his decision to file a lawsuit in Ayodhya. He expressed concerns that the donations he made were misappropriated, stating, "I believe the funds were misused and essentially stolen. Therefore, I demand the return of my contributions so that I can deposit them into the 'Ramalay Trust.' I do not trust the police, as they are under BJP control, so I will approach the court instead."
Concerns Over Fund Management
Singh elaborated that there were two fundraising campaigns for the Ram Temple. He recalled contributing during the initial phase when Advani's Rath Yatra took place, emphasizing his faith in Lord Ram and the temple. However, he criticized the lack of transparency regarding the funds raised in the first phase. Following the Supreme Court's ruling, fundraising resumed, led by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), but Singh chose not to contribute, citing a lack of trust due to past mismanagement of donations. Instead, he opted to donate directly.
Personal Contribution and Allegations
He mentioned that since Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the then Chief Minister, donated ₹1 lakh, he felt compelled to contribute more, ultimately donating ₹1,11,000. Singh wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting assurance that the donation would be properly deposited into the trust. He expressed his faith in Lord Ram and the desire for a grand temple, but recent allegations have raised concerns. Singh claimed that despite hiring employees on a monthly salary of ₹10,000–₹15,000, a significant portion of the daily donations—often in cash—was disappearing.
Legal Action and Trust Issues
Singh asserted that bank officials and employees might also be involved in this misappropriation, calling it a severe blow to the faith of devotees. He reiterated his decision to pursue legal action in Ayodhya, insisting that the funds he donated were wrongfully taken and should be returned to him for deposit into the 'Ramalay Trust.' He remains skeptical of the police's integrity and has resolved to seek justice through the courts.
