Congress Leader Criticizes Shashi Tharoor's Remarks on Surgical Strikes

In a recent social media post, Congress leader Udit Raj sharply criticized Shashi Tharoor for his comments regarding India's military actions against Pakistan. Raj suggested that Tharoor should be recognized as the BJP's spokesperson for his remarks, which he believes undermine Congress's historical contributions. He highlighted past military operations, including surgical strikes under the UPA government, and questioned Tharoor's loyalty to the party. This exchange reflects ongoing tensions within the Congress party and its stance on national security issues.

Udit Raj's Sharp Critique of Tharoor

Congress member Udit Raj took to social media on Wednesday to criticize fellow party MP Shashi Tharoor for his recent comments, suggesting that Tharoor should be named the main spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Tharoor, who led a delegation abroad to represent India's stance amid recent tensions with Pakistan, stated in Panama that terrorists have come to realize they must face consequences for their actions.

He also noted that for the first time, following the Uri attack in September 2016, India crossed the Line of Control (LoC) to conduct surgical strikes against terrorist bases.

In response, Pawan Khera, head of the Congress media department, shared a video of former Prime Minister Singh, highlighting that multiple surgical strikes occurred under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

Raj posted on 'X', addressing Tharoor, "Dear Shashi Tharoor, I regret to inform you that I might suggest to Prime Minister Modi that he declare you the main spokesperson for the BJP, and even appoint you as Foreign Minister before you return to India."

He further questioned how Tharoor could tarnish Congress's illustrious history by claiming that India never crossed the LoC or international borders before Modi's tenure. He reminded that in 1965, the Indian Army entered Pakistan at various points, shocking the Pakistani forces in the Lahore sector.

Raj also mentioned that in 1971, India successfully divided Pakistan and that several surgical strikes were conducted during the UPA government, but these were not politically exploited.

He concluded by expressing disbelief at Tharoor's perceived disloyalty to the party that has given him so much. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh reposted Raj's comments, having previously targeted Tharoor on several occasions.
