Congress Leader Criticizes PM Modi Over Allegations of Ram Temple Fund Misappropriation
Dugvijay Singh's Accusations Against PM Modi
On Monday, Congress leader Digvijay Singh targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding alleged misappropriation of funds for the Ram Temple. Singh accused the Prime Minister of shielding Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, asserting that the accountability for the trust's operations lies with him. In a conversation with the media, Singh described the alleged theft of donations at the Ayodhya temple as an affront to the faith of the people.
Concerns Over Faith and Accountability
Singh emphasized that the most pressing issue is the injury to their deep faith connected to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the birthplace of their revered deity, Lord Ram. He noted that the Nirvani Akhara has fought for over 150 years, and the Gorakhnath Trust's leaders have been engaged in this struggle for at least a century. He questioned the whereabouts of the idol of Ram Lalla, the deity that gave the temple its identity.
Allegations of Fund Misuse
The Congress leader alleged that donations are being misappropriated, citing that there have been 71 thefts in just 40 days, with CCTV footage mysteriously disappearing. Instead of addressing the complaint filed by accountant Mahipal Singh, Champat Rai reportedly dismissed him. Singh further claimed that both Mahipal Singh and Dinanath Verma, a retired engineer previously associated with the trust, were RSS workers appointed by Champat Rai. He also alleged that Verma was removed after raising concerns about contractors demanding a '40 percent commission.'
Call for Accountability
Singh stated that an honest engineer had raised a complaint about the 40 percent commission to Champat Rai, only to be told the next day that his services were no longer needed. Holding the Prime Minister accountable, Singh claimed that the trust was established under Modi's supervision. He asserted, 'PM Modi is protecting someone like Champat Rai. The accountability and responsibility lie with him, as he appointed the trust members.'
