Congress Leader Criticizes Modi's Allegiance to Netanyahu and Foreign Policies
Pawan Khera's Strong Critique of Prime Minister Modi
On Monday, senior Congress leader Pawan Khera expressed strong criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he is ideologically influenced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In a conversation with a news outlet, Khera asserted that Modi does not believe in democracy and raised concerns regarding the Pegasus surveillance controversy in India. He questioned, "The real issue is that Narendra Modi is inspired by Netanyahu. He does not have faith in democracy. If Netanyahu is his role model, what can we expect from him? Who brought Pegasus to this country, Rahul Gandhi or Narendra Modi?"
Concerns Over Pegasus and Modi's Foreign Visits
The Pegasus spyware scandal emerged in 2021, with allegations that the Israeli NSO Group's software was used by governments to monitor journalists, opposition leaders, and activists. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has denied these claims. Khera also criticized Modi's foreign trips, stating that they have not yielded any tangible benefits for India, yet public funds were spent. He mocked Modi for gifting a packet of the Indian toffee brand 'Melody' to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Questioning the Purpose of Modi's Foreign Engagements
Khera questioned why Rahul Gandhi does not undertake government trips at public expense, emphasizing that the Prime Minister is accountable for such actions. He asked, "Should we celebrate when he distributes 'Melody Toffees' to a woman named Meloni abroad? Is this how taxpayer money should be spent?" The Congress leader further scrutinized the outcomes of Modi's foreign visits, alleging that India has entered into an unbalanced trade agreement with the United States and claiming that the country's foreign policy is influenced by external powers.
Accusations of Supporting Israel
Khera accused Modi of supporting Israel, noting that the Prime Minister visited the country just before conflicts erupted in the Middle East. He questioned the benefits of such visits, stating, "What have we gained from these trips? A highly biased tariff deal with the U.S.? Is this what we want? Donald Trump is controlling our foreign policy. Are we okay with that? Our foreign policy is being dictated by Epstein. Modi's visit to Israel just before this illegal war is concerning. Are we as a nation willing to accept this? People are asking why the Prime Minister sacrifices India's interests during his foreign trips. We are paying a heavy price for his visit to Israel just before the illegal war against Iran began."
