Congress's Strong Stance Against LDF Government
Congress MP and party general secretary K.C. Venugopal has launched a fierce critique of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala, asserting that the citizens are fed up with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's administration and are determined to oust it in the upcoming assembly elections. Speaking in Wayanad after several meetings with senior Congress leaders, Venugopal stated that the party has engaged in extensive discussions over the past two days and is moving forward with renewed confidence and unity.
Venugopal told the media that while the CPM government is attempting to regain power, the public sentiment is clear: they want this government removed. He emphasized that everyone is working together with enthusiasm and vision, and he is confident of Congress's victory in Kerala. His remarks come as preparations for the assembly elections are intensifying. Previously, on Sunday, the Congress leader dismissed the recommendation for a CBI investigation against opposition leader V.D. Satheesan by the Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB), labeling it a political tactic by the CPI(M) ahead of the elections.
Venugopal remarked to reporters that this is clearly a maneuver timed for the elections. He asserted that no one can save the CPM government in the upcoming elections, and they are aware of this. He accused the ruling party of misusing institutions to target opposition leaders. The VACB has recommended a CBI investigation into allegations that Satheesan received illegal foreign funds for a housing project aimed at rehabilitating families displaced by the devastating floods in Kerala in 2018. This recommendation cites alleged violations of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) and raises questions about Satheesan's foreign travel, which reportedly occurred without the assembly speaker's approval.
