Congress Leader's Accusations Against the Government

On Saturday, Congress leader Udit Raj targeted the BJP-led government regarding the contaminated water incident in Indore, accusing them of failing to manage the situation and questioning the Prime Minister's silence on the matter. Speaking to a news outlet, Raj stated, "People are dying, and the Prime Minister remains silent. Delhi is grappling with pollution, leading to respiratory illnesses and reduced life expectancy. In Indore, the situation is dire as they cannot even provide clean drinking water. This reflects the reality of a two-engine government. The BJP's performance is consistently poor across the board. They claim to run a government based on facts, yet the reality is starkly different. They boast about being the world's fourth-largest economy, a global leader, and a digital India, but the truth tells another story.


Impact of Contaminated Water in Indore

In the Bhagirathpura area of Indore, the contamination of water has resulted in multiple fatalities and affected numerous families. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav condemned the negligence of officials regarding the water contamination issue and announced the suspension of two officials following the incident. In a post on X, the Chief Minister made it clear that the state government would not tolerate negligence related to the contaminated drinking water incident in Bhagirathpura, stating, "Strict action is being taken in this regard."


Official Actions and Updates on the Incident

He further revealed that the additional commissioner of the municipal corporation, Rohit Sisonia, and the supervising engineer of the Public Health Engineering department, Sanjeev Srivastava, have been suspended. Instructions have also been issued to remove Indore Municipal Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav. According to Indore District Collector Shivam Verma, five deaths have been officially confirmed due to the water pollution incident, with the total number of hospitalized patients rising to 210.

Verma also mentioned that a team of senior doctors has been formed to analyze the mortality data obtained from various sources, and the official figures will be updated based on their findings. The Collector stated, "The administration releases figures based on medical confirmations, and so far, five deaths have occurred in this incident. We have also established a team of senior doctors to analyze mortality data from other sources, such as representatives or media, and we will update our official death toll report accordingly. As of January 1, 201 individuals had been hospitalized, and on January 2, nine more were admitted, bringing the total to 210."
