Congress Launches Nationwide Movement Against NEET Exam Irregularities
Political Turmoil Over NEET Exam Issues
The political landscape has heated up due to alleged irregularities and paper leaks in major competitive exams, including the NEET-UG. Rahul Gandhi, the former president of Congress and leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, is set to initiate a significant nationwide movement advocating for the rights of youth and students. This initiative will kick off on June 17 in Kota, Rajasthan, which is known as the largest coaching hub in the country.
Engagement with Students Across the Nation
Following the launch in Kota, similar student conferences will be held in Prayagraj, Patna, and Delhi. KC Venugopal, the General Secretary of Congress, stated that these gatherings will address issues such as decentralizing NEET, abolishing exam fees, taking stringent legal action against those involved in paper leak scandals, and demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Congress's Strategic Meeting and Campaign Plans
On June 8, Congress convened a meeting with its general secretaries, in-charges, and state presidents, deciding to launch a nationwide campaign against the NEET issue, seat allocation theft before elections, unemployment, and inflation. Venugopal announced that under the guidance of Mallikarjun Kharge and the strong leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the party is set to commence the first phase of a nationwide campaign against paper leaks, exam irregularities, unemployment, and the systematic betrayal of Indian youth by the Modi government.
Upcoming Conferences and Participation
Rahul Gandhi will host large student conferences starting on June 17 in Kota, followed by events in Prayagraj on July 10, Patna on July 11, and Delhi on July 14. These conferences will include students, youth preparing for exams, youth organizations, teachers, and those directly affected by exam scandals.
Highlighting Youth Challenges
The Congress General Secretary emphasized the need to bring to light the struggles faced by millions of young Indians whose futures are jeopardized by paper leaks, rising exam costs, and the government's failure to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment and education system. The campaign aims to mobilize students through various channels, including NSUI, Youth Congress, state and district Congress committees, and local units, to unite and respond to Rahul Gandhi's call.
Engagement Strategies and Goals
Venugopal outlined that the movement will utilize a combination of physical presence and digital outreach, engaging with students in campuses, coaching centers, universities, schools, and youth centers. Activities will include social media campaigns, live screenings, and direct dialogues with students. Rahul Gandhi believes that the hopes of young Indians should not be sacrificed to corruption, incompetence, or political apathy. This movement aims to elevate students beyond political engagement, providing a platform for affected youth to share their experiences and demand accountability for repeated exam failures and paper leak scandals.
Addressing Key Demands
Venugopal reiterated that this movement will take the demands previously raised by Rahul Gandhi to the streets. These demands include decentralizing NEET, abolishing exam fees, enforcing strict legal actions against those involved in paper leak rackets, and ensuring accountability at the highest levels of government, including the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
