NDA's Victory in Jharkhand Rajya Sabha Elections

In a significant blow to the Congress party, NDA candidate Parimal Nathwani has emerged victorious in the Rajya Sabha elections from Jharkhand, defeating Congress nominee Pranav Jha. Following the results, Congress leaders expressed concerns about potential cross-voting by some legislators, as they anticipated a tough competition from their party and allies.

BJP legislator Pradeep Prasad commented on Nathwani's win, stating that the NDA secured 28 votes, while JMM received 30 and Congress garnered 19 votes, with three votes being declared invalid. Nathwani's victory was attributed to the legislators listening to their conscience, which was expected.

Three candidates contested for the two Rajya Sabha seats: independent candidate Parimal Nathwani supported by the BJP, Baidyanath Ram from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), and Pranav Jha from Congress. Amid concerns of cross-voting, the voting process commenced at 9 AM and continued until around 3 PM. Among the 81 legislators who cast their votes were Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly Babulal Marandi, BJP's chief whip Naveen Jaiswal, Congress legislative party leader Pradeep Yadav, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radhakrishna Kishore.
