Congress Expels Laxman Singh for Anti-Party Remarks Against Rahul Gandhi

Congress Takes Disciplinary Action Against Laxman Singh
On Wednesday, the Congress party expelled Laxman Singh, brother of Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh, from primary membership for a period of six years due to comments made against Rahul Gandhi. The party issued a press release stating that Singh was removed with immediate effect due to activities deemed contrary to party interests. Tariq Anwar, the member secretary of the Congress disciplinary action committee, confirmed that the party president has taken this step against the former Madhya Pradesh MLA for his actions that go against the party's principles.
Lack of Clarity on Reasons for Expulsion
However, the official statement from the party did not specify the exact nature of the activities that led to Laxman Singh's expulsion. This development follows a recommendation from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) disciplinary committee to remove Singh, who has served as an MLA and MP multiple times. The committee noted that Singh's repeated public statements against the leadership have tarnished the party's image.
Controversial Remarks Spark Internal Dispute
Last month, Laxman Singh received a show-cause notice after he reportedly questioned how long the party would tolerate the perceived immaturity of both Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra. In light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Singh stirred significant controversy within the party by stating, "Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra are immature." While paying tribute to the victims of the attack on April 24, he added, "The country is suffering the consequences of their immaturity."
