Congress Criticizes PM Modi Over Alleged Financial Irregularities in Ayodhya Temple Donations
Congress's Strong Accusations Against PM Modi
The Congress party has launched a fierce attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding alleged financial discrepancies related to donations for the Ayodhya Ram Temple. They have raised concerns about his silence on the issue and are demanding an investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal accused the Prime Minister's silence of revealing the BJP's double standards. He argued that the party came to power by advocating for the Ram Temple movement, yet now refuses to act on what they describe as a significant scandal.
Questions Raised on PM Modi's Accountability
Venugopal stated in an interview that the Prime Minister bears moral responsibility to take action in this matter, as the Ram Temple issue was a key reason for his rise to power. He expressed concern over the alleged theft, questioning how the Prime Minister could remain silent amidst such a significant issue, which clearly highlights the BJP's inconsistent stance. He had previously written to Modi, requesting a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the alleged donation scam, emphasizing that the theft of funds related to the Ayodhya Temple has shaken the faith of millions of devotees.
Skepticism Towards the SIT Investigation
Venugopal also expressed doubts about the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Uttar Pradesh government, claiming it cannot conduct an impartial investigation since the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was established by the central government. He alleged that the temple trust was nominated by the central authorities, and now the SIT is investigating, but they cannot do so honestly. It is evident that influential individuals are being protected.
Targeting Yogi Adityanath
The Congress leader criticized Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for attacking those questioning the alleged financial irregularities. He remarked that after a theft, criticizing those who raise questions about it implies justifying the actions of the thieves. He called for a fair investigation under the Supreme Court's oversight and suggested that the CBI should conduct the inquiry under the same supervision.
