Congress Criticizes Modi's Foreign Policy Amidst International Tour

Congress Voices Discontent Over Modi's Tenure
The Congress party has expressed dissatisfaction with the events that have unfolded during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration. Following the recent attack in Pahalgam, India's response, the U.S.'s affection for Pakistan post-conflict, and issues with the Maldives, Congress has launched a sharp critique against the government. As Modi embarks on a significant journey from July 2 to July 9, visiting five nations including Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, Congress continues to question the country's foreign policy in his absence.
Kharge Critiques NDA's Foreign Policy
On Friday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the foreign policy of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, labeling it as flawed and responsible for creating adversaries around India. Speaking at a social justice event, he challenged the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to remove the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' from the Constitution's preamble.
Concerns Over Domestic Issues
Kharge pointed out that while Modi has traveled to 42 countries, he has yet to visit Manipur, where violence has claimed lives. He criticized the government's foreign policy, stating it has led to increased hostility from neighboring countries like China and Pakistan, and even Nepal is distancing itself from India.
RSS's Call for Constitutional Review
Recently, an article in a magazine linked to the RSS suggested that General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale called for a review of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Constitution's preamble, not to abolish it, but to restore its original spirit, free from the distortions of Congress's Emergency-era policies.
Kharge Challenges RSS's Intentions
In response to Hosabale's remarks, Kharge stated, 'I have heard that RSS members claim they will remove these words from the Constitution. I challenge you or your BJP or Amit Shah to try. No one can remove them; if you have the courage, show us.' He accused Modi of ruining the economy over the past 11 years and undermining the Constitution.
Call to Strengthen Congress
Kharge asserted that Congress will teach Modi a lesson and urged party workers to strengthen the organization to ensure a return to power and change the country's direction. He criticized Modi for embracing foreign leaders while neglecting the common people and farmers in India. He remarked, 'If someone gives Modi a cap or a medal, he will wear it proudly. But he should be concerned about Indian farmers and citizens.'
