Congress Raises Concerns Over Employment Decline

On August 4, in New Delhi, the Congress party pointed to a report indicating a decline in new hiring by major private companies, accusing the Modi administration of pushing the nation's job market into a severe crisis. Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh remarked that the youth of the country are no longer satisfied with mere publicity or reels; they demand real employment opportunities.

Ramesh referenced a newspaper article on 'X', highlighting that in the past year, nine out of the top eleven companies in India experienced a 27% drop in new job openings. He argued that this trend illustrates the serious employment crisis the country is facing, while the government continues to deny the existence of the problem instead of seeking solutions. He emphasized that the report only scratches the surface of the issue.

The Congress leader further claimed that if large corporations are struggling, it is easy to infer the dire situation of the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector, which is heavily impacted by the Modi government's policies. Ramesh accused the administration of implementing flawed economic and employment strategies that have plunged the entire job market into turmoil. He reiterated that rather than addressing the youth's employment crisis, the government remains focused on managing headlines and diverting attention.

He concluded by stating that the youth of the nation are discerning and require more than just reels; they need genuine job opportunities.
