Congress Criticizes Jai Bharat Party Ahead of Assam Elections
Congress Leader Questions Jai Bharat Party's Legitimacy
Biswanath, Mar 29: As the Assam Assembly elections approach their conclusion, Jitendra Singh, the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and in-charge of Assam, has launched a fierce critique of the newly established Jai Bharat Party (JBP), asserting that it lacks any real presence.
During a press briefing in Biswanath on Sunday, Singh raised doubts about the credibility of this nascent party, which has declared intentions to contest in 40 constituencies.
“The Jai Bharat Party is putting forth a candidate in Biswanath, yet it has no real existence. It is unregistered and lacks a recognized symbol. They are attempting to run in the elections alongside the JMM, but they still hold no significant position,” Singh remarked.
In a politically charged statement, the Congress leader alleged that there are indications from “various sources” that the BJP is financially supporting this new party, adding complexity to the already fierce electoral competition.
With only ten days remaining until the elections, Singh redirected attention to the overarching campaign theme, claiming a significant anti-incumbency sentiment against the current government.
“Citizens throughout Assam are eagerly anticipating April 9 to oust this corrupt, mafia-influenced, and syndicate-driven administration that has exploited and divided the state,” he stated, expressing a shared sentiment from “Sadiya to Dhubri.”
He stressed that all governments, regardless of their political affiliation, must be accountable to voters every five years.
“Every administration, whether Congress, BJP, or any other party, must justify their actions to the public. This government has failed to fulfill its commitments,” Singh accused.
Focusing on the Biswanath constituency, Singh expressed confidence in Congress candidate Jayanta Bora, describing him as a well-recognized and accepted figure among the electorate.
He also criticized Bora’s opponent, suggesting that voters are aware of how the rival candidate interacts with the general public.
“From what I have observed, people will support Congress and its allies, including AJP and Raijor Dal, on April 9, paving the way for a new Assam,” he asserted.
Additionally, Singh announced that Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge is set to visit Naoboicha later today, where the party will officially present its five electoral promises, marking a final effort in this high-stakes election.
