Congress Criticizes Delhi Government's Lakshmi Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Concerns Raised Over Eligibility Requirements

New Delhi, August 3 - Devendra Yadav, the president of the Congress party's Delhi unit, has recently criticized the eligibility criteria for the Delhi government's newly launched 'Lakshmi Scheme'. He described the requirement for recommendations from MPs or MLAs as impractical. Speaking to reporters, Yadav emphasized that women who meet the government's eligibility criteria should not need endorsements from elected representatives to receive benefits.

He questioned, “If a woman qualifies under the eligibility conditions and genuinely needs assistance, why should she require a recommendation from an MLA or MP? Should women have to fill out forms and keep visiting the offices of MPs and MLAs?”

As of now, there has been no immediate response from the Delhi government regarding these allegations. On August 1, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the online registration portal for the 'Delhi Lakshmi Scheme', which aims to provide eligible women in the national capital with financial support of ₹2,500 each month.
