Congress Criticizes BJP Over Allegations of Corruption in Temple Trusts
Congress Accuses BJP of Misusing Ram Temple Name
On Saturday, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh launched a scathing critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of corruption linked to temple trusts and state governments under their control. He claimed that while seeking votes in the name of the Ram Temple, the BJP is tarnishing the name of Ram.
In a conversation with a news media outlet, Ramesh stated that votes were solicited in Ram's name, yet that very name is being defamed. Recent reports have emerged regarding Kedarnath and Badrinath, where donations have allegedly been misappropriated.
Questions Raised About Irregularities in BJP-ruled States
Ramesh questioned why such irregularities are surfacing in states governed by the BJP, alleging that members of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are involved with the temple trusts. He asked, "Why is this theft occurring in BJP-ruled states? Is the Prime Minister and Home Minister unaware of these individuals?"
Investigation Committee Formed for Allegations
In response to the allegations circulating on social media regarding the misuse of donations and offerings at the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple, Hemant Dwivedi, the chairman of the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), confirmed that an investigation committee has been established. He assured that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty.
In a recorded video, Dwivedi stated that the temple committee is taking the allegations seriously and has initiated action within 24 hours. He mentioned that notices, particularly 'show cause notices', have been issued to all employees and officials involved in the counting process.
Immediate Actions and Future Steps
Dwivedi further elaborated that an investigation committee has been formed with immediate effect. This committee will conduct its inquiry and submit a report as soon as possible, which will be made public. Any individual found guilty will face stringent consequences, as this is a highly sensitive matter that is being treated with utmost seriousness, given the deep faith millions have in this sacred pilgrimage site. All necessary actions were taken within 24 hours.
