Congress Condemns BJP's Actions in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi, August 4 - The Congress party has taken aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the acquittal of all accused in the Ram Navami violence case that occurred four years ago in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh. They accused the BJP of disrespecting the Constitution through what they termed 'bulldozer justice' in states governed by the party. Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh emphasized the need for proper compensation for those whose homes were demolished and called for accountability from the officials responsible for these actions.

Ramesh highlighted that the day after the violence erupted during the Ram Navami procession in April 2022, the district administration used bulldozers to demolish 16 houses and 29 shops in five Muslim-majority areas of the city.

At that time, the then Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Narottam Mishra, stated, 'We will turn the house from which stones were thrown into a pile of stones.' Ramesh further noted that in July 2026, a session court in Madhya Pradesh acquitted all 11 Muslim men accused in the 2022 Ram Navami violence, citing a lack of credible evidence, witnesses, and proper investigation.

Despite the court's ruling declaring the accused innocent, Ramesh claimed that the BJP's 'bulldozer justice' had already been executed years prior. He alleged that such actions in BJP-ruled states have consistently targeted the Muslim community, leading to the destruction of their places of worship, educational institutions, and homes. Ramesh condemned this as a severe affront to both the rule of law and the Constitution, reiterating the demand for adequate compensation for those affected and accountability for the officials involved.
