Congress Accuses BJP of Using AAP as a Proxy

On Monday, the Congress party accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of previously utilizing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as a proxy against them, asserting that recent developments have revealed the true nature of AAP and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal.

Ajay Maken, the party's treasurer, reiterated his long-held belief that Congress's support for AAP in Delhi was a mistake. He mentioned that during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the India alliance partners pressured Congress into coordinating seat arrangements with AAP.

In a conversation with reporters, Maken also criticized Kejriwal's party for sending wealthy individuals to the Rajya Sabha, suggesting that it should now be referred to as the 'Billionaire Aam Aadmi Party.' He remarked that the current situation is a result of allowing affluent individuals into the Rajya Sabha based on their wealth.

Maken pointed out that the average declared wealth of the seven Rajya Sabha members who left AAP is approximately ₹818 crores, 50 lakhs, 35 thousand, and 420 rupees.

He further alleged that Kejriwal had orchestrated a plot to defame Sheila Dikshit and Manmohan Singh, claiming that both he and AAP had acted as proxies for the BJP. Maken stated that the mask has now been lifted, revealing AAP's true intentions.

He added that AAP contests elections primarily in states where there is a direct competition between the BJP and Congress, and claimed that several other leaders from AAP are likely to join the BJP soon.
