On Wednesday, the Congress party accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of weakening democracy by enticing opposition leaders to join his party. They claim that the BJP is targeting those leaders who were elected on an anti-BJP agenda. Jairam Ramesh, the party's general secretary in charge of communications, asserted that Shah has been relentlessly attacking the opposition to compensate for the losses faced in Parliament earlier this year.

Allegations of Corruption and Manipulation

In a post on X, Ramesh stated that Shah's enticing offers are attracting individuals who were elected just two years ago on a strong anti-BJP platform. He mentioned that the benefits being promised are astonishing. Referring to the Home Minister, Ramesh accused him of running a self-serving campaign that is well-organized, presenting various schemes and products tailored to people's needs, much like the mutual fund industry.

Concerns Over Political Defections

Ramesh further claimed that there are no limits to Shah's malicious intentions, but he will not succeed in his true objectives. This statement from the Congress leader comes amid speculation about leaders from Shiv Sena (UBT) switching sides. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut alleged late Tuesday that attempts are being made to lure state MPs. In a post on X, he mentioned that there are reports of an advance payment of 15 crores being offered tonight to buy Maharashtra's MPs, calling it shocking and disgraceful.

Speculation of a Split in Shiv Sena (UBT)

These claims emerged as rumors of a potential rebellion within the Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray intensified, with reports suggesting that some Lok Sabha members are considering breaking away from the party. Questions arose following Raut's visit to Delhi, leading to speculation that he might meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to prevent any moves by Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs seeking separate recognition in Parliament.
