Confusion Erupts Over Arrest of History-Sheeter in Uttar Pradesh
Contradictory Statements from Police Officials

A perplexing scenario emerged in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, where two senior police officials issued conflicting statements regarding the apprehension of a history-sheeter accused of making offensive remarks against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Hinduism.
One officer asserted that the suspect had already been taken into custody, while another claimed that raids were ongoing to locate him. This discrepancy within the police force has ignited discussions, particularly after audio clips of the officers' remarks went viral.
Details of the Incident
The incident began in the Akbarpur police station jurisdiction, where Imtiaz, a local tea vendor, lodged a complaint against history-sheeter Saddam.
Imtiaz alleged that on March 30, Saddam and his companions were drinking alcohol near his shop and began insulting CM Yogi and Hinduism.
During this altercation, they also attacked a passing sadhu, and a video of the incident circulated widely.
In response, the police filed an FIR against Saddam and three others.
Conflicting Police Accounts
On Wednesday, when questioned about Saddam’s arrest, SP Keshav Kumar informed the media that the suspect had already been detained.
However, ASP Vishal Pandey later contradicted this statement, indicating that efforts to apprehend Saddam were still ongoing.
This inconsistency gained traction online, prompting concerns regarding the police's internal communication and reliability.
Resolution of the Situation
Following the uproar, the police successfully arrested Saddam on Thursday, resolving the confusion. The investigation is still active, and authorities are anticipated to pursue further legal measures against all involved parties.
