Pregnancy Cases in Government Hostel Raise Alarm

Amid growing concerns regarding sexual exploitation of women in Odisha, two tenth-grade students residing in a government hostel were discovered to be pregnant during routine health check-ups, as reported by the police on Friday.


Authorities revealed that both minors are living in government hostels located in Kandhamal district. These incidents emerged from two separate residential girls' high schools in the Tumudibandh block of the district.


The students had returned to their hostel after the summer vacation last month. Following the discovery, the hostel administration alerted the police, leading to the filing of two separate First Information Reports (FIRs).
