Additionally, three days prior, a tree fell on a school bus in Mumbai during heavy rainfall, tragically claiming the life of an 11-year-old boy. The meteorological department has issued a red alert for Mumbai and surrounding areas.
Injured Students Rushed to Hospital
Following the accident, efforts were made to extricate the students from the bus, and the injured were promptly transported to a hospital for treatment. Currently, one child's condition is reported to be critical.

A video of the incident has surfaced, showing the bus severely overturned by the roadside, with several onlookers present. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, and parents are understandably anxious as they monitor the situation.
Tragic Incident in Mumbai: Tree Falls on School Bus
In a similar incident just three days earlier in Mumbai, a tree fell on a school bus during a rainstorm, resulting in the death of an 11-year-old student and injuries to four others. Officials reported that this occurred at 2:58 PM near a building on Road Number 11 while the bus was transporting 13 students from Universal High School back home.
Emergency Services Respond to the Scene
Fire brigade and other agencies arrived promptly to rescue all students, including two who were trapped inside the bus. Five injured students, aged between 4 and 12, were taken to a nearby private hospital. According to the medical officer, the critically injured 11-year-old, Vihan Srivastava, succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while the conditions of the other four injured students are stable.
Mayor Orders Investigation into the Incident
Mumbai's Mayor, Ritu Tawde, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. According to her office, local civic officials reported that the trees along the roadside had been trimmed before the monsoon. A press release stated, "The investigation will assess whether recent cement concrete work on the road affected the stability of the trees and if any complaints were received from local residents."
Mayor Visits the Accident Site
Tawde visited the accident site immediately, assessing the situation alongside Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, local legislator Tukaram Kate, and other officials.
Heavy Rainfall Continues in Mumbai
These incidents come at a time when Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past week. Civic officials have indicated that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai for Saturday and Sunday. The department predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas, with extremely heavy rainfall expected in others.
Red Alerts Issued for Neighboring Districts
Red alerts have also been issued for neighboring districts such as Thane, Palghar, and Raigad. Following a delayed monsoon, Mumbai has faced intense rainfall throughout the week, disrupting normal life.
Forecast for Upcoming Days
According to the district-wise forecast released by the IMD on Friday afternoon, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in certain areas of the city on July 4 and 5. This forecast has been categorized as having a "very high likelihood."
