Concerns Raised Over Victory Rallies Amid Ongoing Conflict

Amit Thackeray Critiques BJP's Victory Rallies

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Amit Thackeray expressed his apprehensions on Monday regarding the BJP's tricolor rallies, stating that it is inappropriate to hold victory celebrations while the war is not over and a temporary ceasefire is in effect. In response, state minister Ashish Shelar criticized Thackeray's remarks, asserting that these rallies are not merely political events but tributes to the bravery of Indian soldiers.

Thackeray's Letter to PM Modi

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thackeray voiced his concerns about the celebratory atmosphere following recent military actions against Pakistan. He acknowledged the importance of tough yet necessary decisions regarding national security and thanked the Prime Minister for them. However, he emphasized that the ongoing celebrations create emotional confusion in society, especially when brave soldiers have sacrificed their lives. He stated that this is not a moment of victory but rather a moment of ceasefire.

Call for Restraint

Thackeray mentioned in his letter, "The war is not over; a temporary ceasefire is in place. It is inappropriate to hold victory rallies when the outcomes remain uncertain. Citizens should exercise restraint and instead pay homage to the martyrs." The Indian Armed Forces initiated Operation Sindoor following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).

Minister Shelar Defends the Rallies

Responding to Thackeray's comments, Minister Shelar stated, "Today, the world praises India. We are also leading in diplomacy. Therefore, we are not paying attention to others' remarks." He affirmed that the tricolor rallies will continue as planned, emphasizing that they are not just political events but a tribute to the courage of Indian soldiers. Shelar concluded by stating, "The people stand firmly behind our soldiers and PM Modi."
