Concerns Raised Over Theft at Ayodhya Ram Temple Amid Trust Meeting
Response to Theft Incident at Ram Temple
Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, the head of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has expressed his deep concern regarding the recent theft at the Ayodhya Ram Temple. He described the incident as extremely unfortunate and emphasized that those responsible should not be spared under any circumstances, insisting on severe punishment for the culprits. In a written statement, he highlighted that the Ram Temple symbolizes the faith of millions of Hindus, and such acts deeply hurt the sentiments of devotees. He expressed confidence that the authorities would quickly identify the perpetrators and take stringent action in accordance with the law.
Call for Serious Action from Authorities
Mahant Nritya Gopal Das expressed hope that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would treat this matter with utmost seriousness, ensuring that the offenders receive appropriate punishment. He urged that this incident be viewed as a matter of faith rather than a political issue. He remains optimistic that the truth will emerge once the investigation is complete and that justice will be served.
Upcoming Trust Meeting to Address Controversies
A significant meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is scheduled to take place today in Ayodhya. Amid rising controversies regarding alleged irregularities in fundraising, decisions regarding the future of former General Secretary Champat Rai and former trustee Anil Mishra are expected. Sources indicate that the Trust may formally approve the resignations of both officials, which were submitted on June 26 and confirmed by Trustee and Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri on June 27. The meeting, set for 3 PM, will cover a lengthy agenda, including a review of the Special Investigation Team's preliminary report on donations found in the temple's donation boxes.
Trust Meeting to Discuss Key Administrative Decisions
In addition to the resignation issue, the Trust may also discuss the audit process for the financial year 2025-26 and significant administrative arrangements related to temple management. Discussions may include potential candidates for the two vacant positions, with names like Bajrang Bangda and Neeraj Dauneria being considered, although no final decision has been made yet.
Attendance of Senior Religious Figures
A large number of attendees, including several senior religious figures and trustees, are expected at the Trust meeting. Notable attendees include Trustee Swami Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati, Yuga Purush Swami Paramanand, and Krishna Mohan, who have already arrived in the temple town. Other members, including Trustee Nripendra Mishra and Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri, are expected to join later in the day, with some members, including senior lawyer and trustee K. Parasaran, likely to participate virtually. Sources have also revealed that the Trust has issued notices to Rai and Mishra, allowing them to present their side before any final decisions are made. The governing body will make decisions by a two-thirds majority, emphasizing the importance of maintaining procedural integrity and the Trust's reputation amid ongoing scrutiny over donation management.
First Meeting Held Inside Ram Temple Complex
This meeting marks the first time the Trust convenes within the Ram Temple complex itself, as previous meetings were held at the Maniram Das Chhawani in Ayodhya. The change in venue is perceived as an effort to maintain confidentiality, especially given the heightened attention on this meeting following the theft allegations.
