Concerns Raised Over India's Stance in Israel-Iran Conflict by Former Minister Salman Khurshid

Salman Khurshid Questions India's Role

On Saturday, former External Affairs Minister and Congress leader Salman Khurshid expressed concerns regarding India's position in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. He questioned whether India is complicit in the situation or simply lacks the courage to speak the truth. Targeting the BJP government, Khurshid noted that following the Prime Minister's visit to Israel, the country decided to take hostile actions against Iran. He emphasized the importance of dialogue with both Iran and Israel, asking, 'Where is our voice? Are we participants in this or do we lack the courage to speak the truth? Either way, it reflects poorly on us and the world.'

Congress Condemns Military Actions

The Congress party has condemned the joint military actions by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, urging the government to ensure the safety of Indians residing in the Middle East. Congress MP and General Secretary in charge of communications, Jairam Ramesh, criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump, labeling the negotiations over the nuclear deal with Iran as a 'farce.' He attributed the military actions to provocations from Israel.

Ramesh stated that Trump has been pretending to engage in diplomacy with Iran for weeks, but has initiated military action aimed at regime change, spurred by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and U.S. extremists. In his post, he condemned the attacks and called on the Indian government to assist in de-escalating hostilities, emphasizing the need to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of millions of Indians living and working in the region.

Details of the Military Operation

Israel and the U.S. launched a joint military operation against Iran, codenamed 'Operation Roaring Lion.' This operation targeted military installations, missile production facilities, and areas near the office of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Reports indicate that several ministries in southern Tehran were attacked, with residents reporting loud explosions. The pre-planned military assault by Israel has heightened tensions, affecting multiple sites, including the capital.
