Concerns About Trump's Health Resurface Amid Reduced Public Engagement
Renewed Speculation on Trump's Health
Recent discussions regarding the health of US President Donald Trump have gained traction online, particularly after his recent podcast appearance and a noticeable decrease in his public engagements. During a conversation with journalist Miranda Devine on the New York Post's Pod Force One podcast, several social media users pointed out what seemed to be swelling around Trump's right eye and hand. The White House has yet to address these observations publicly.
This scrutiny arises amidst ongoing debates about the President's health following his latest medical evaluation. Trump, who is 79 years old, had his third medical check-up in just over a year last week. Following this examination, the Trump administration released a report indicating that the President is in good health. However, some medical professionals have raised concerns about the findings, with one doctor suggesting they seemed "almost too good to be true for someone of his age." The White House has consistently dismissed claims that Trump is facing significant physical or cognitive health issues.
Critics have also referenced various video clips of the President from recent months. Dr. Bruce Davidson, a professor at Washington State University's Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, mentioned on a podcast that Trump might have experienced a stroke during his second term, although he did not provide any supporting evidence for this assertion. He noted earlier this year that Trump appeared to shuffle his feet, which he found unusual, and remarked that the President seemed to "garble" his words during speeches.
Concerns about Trump's health have been amplified by his limited public appearances. Although he signed an executive order on Promoting Advanced Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Security on Tuesday, he did not deliver a speech or hold a press conference. His last public address was reported to be on May 22. The President and First Lady Melania Trump were last seen together at the annual Congressional Picnic on May 20. On Wednesday, political commentator Brian Krassenstein shared a video on social media, claiming that Trump's face appeared swollen. Additionally, Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu posted a clip suggesting that Trump appeared to doze off during a Cabinet meeting while Secretary of State Marco Rubio was speaking. Lieu stated, "There is something wrong with his health or cognitive abilities. We are going to get to the bottom of this." Despite these claims, the White House continues to assert that the President is fit to fulfill his responsibilities.
