Community Dialogue at Baba Kyalu Temple

A special dialogue event was held at Baba Kyalu Temple in Surdwan, organized by the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department from Block Indora. This initiative aimed to engage with Below Poverty Line (BPL) families from nine designated panchayats. MLA Malendra Rajan took the opportunity to connect directly with families from Badukhar, Deyothi, Rajgir, Bhograwan, Palakhi, Surdwan, Malhadi, Deeni, and Gadarana, addressing their concerns and promising actionable solutions.

During his address, Rajan assured attendees that the selection process for BPL families would remain free from political bias. He stated, “Only those families that genuinely qualify will be included in the BPL list. We have successfully completed all eight phases of the BPL survey, ensuring that government assistance reaches those who truly need it.”

Rajan also outlined significant development initiatives, such as the Badukhar–Indora road project, the construction of a ₹12-crore 33 KV sub-station, and the installation of a tube well in Surdwan to enhance drinking water access. Additionally, he announced the establishment of marketing outlets in Damtal and Indora to support local women in selling their products, thereby promoting income generation and self-sufficiency.

At the event, SP Nurpur Ilma Afroz spoke to the youth and community members about upcoming recruitment for approximately 700 constable positions within the police force. She encouraged young individuals to avoid drug use and to assist the police in their anti-drug initiatives, urging mothers and sisters to report any drug-related activities to the authorities for prompt action.

Various department officials provided insights into welfare programs, while BPL families voiced their challenges. Rajan instructed officials to prioritize the timely resolution of issues faced by eligible families.

The gathering included notable attendees such as SP Ilma Afroz, SDM Dr. Surinder Thakur, BDO Sudarshan Singh, DFO Sandeep Kohli, Range Officer Abdul Hamid, Executive Engineer Rajneesh Sharma from the Electricity Department, Assistant Engineer Rajendra from Jal Shakti, Executive Engineer Vinay Mehra from PWD, SMS Bodh Raj from Agriculture, Vishal Thakur, representatives from different panchayats, and other esteemed guests.
