CJP Issues Warning to Government
The Cockroach People's Party (CJP) has issued a warning to the government, stating that if all FIRs against student protesters are not withdrawn, they will be compelled to initiate another protest. In a recent statement, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka urged the government, particularly central ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, to ensure that no cases are filed against the demonstrators. Ranka also called for the immediate release of all detained students.
Demands for Immediate Action
Ranka expressed on X that they demand the immediate withdrawal of all FIRs against the protesters, the release of students, and a commitment that no future FIRs will be filed by the Delhi police, central investigative agencies, or police in BJP-ruled states. He warned that failure to comply would force them to protest again. These remarks followed Saurav Das's comments regarding reports of students and other protesters being targeted, detained, or arrested.
CJP's Conditions for Protests
Before retracting their protest, CJP stated that the government assured them that no legal or police cases would be filed against protesters or volunteers participating in demonstrations at Jantar Mantar and other cities in India. Das further mentioned that CJP is closely monitoring the situation and hopes that the Indian government and all BJP/NDA state governments will act with urgency, responsibility, and good faith in response to the current circumstances.
AISA President's Support
Neha Bora, the national president of AISA, also urged the government to fulfill its promises and withdraw all cases against the protesters. She informed reporters that the central government had assured that no cases would be filed against students protesting against paper leaks and that previously filed cases would be withdrawn. However, hundreds of students across Bihar remain imprisoned. Arresting students for protesting and charging them with serious offenses like attempted murder is unacceptable.
