According to reports, this incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the local police station. The 58-year-old victim, Sheila Agarwal, had stepped outside to dispose of some trash when a young man approached her, claiming that an officer wanted to speak with her. A masked individual stood a short distance away, introducing himself as a police officer.

Creating Fear and Sleight of Hand

The fake officer instilled fear in the woman, warning her about the rising incidents of theft in the city and questioning why she was wearing so much jewelry in public. Alarmed, she removed her gold chain and bangles. The thieves then cleverly pretended to wrap the jewelry in a piece of paper and handed her a small packet.
