Violence Breaks Out Amid Protests

In the Civil Lines area of Muzaffarnagar, a candlelight march organized by members of the Samajwadi Party (SP) to protest attacks on minorities in Bangladesh turned violent when clashes occurred with activists from another organization. This information was confirmed by a police official on Friday.


Siddharth Mishra, the police circle officer, informed a news agency that Gaurav Chauhan, the state secretary of the Karni Sena, was taken into custody as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, members of the organization protested against Chauhan's detention.


Jiya Chaudhary, the district president of the SP, accused Chauhan of attacking party workers while they were peacefully conducting their candlelight vigil outside the party office.
