Bijapur: A confrontation occurred on Friday between security forces and Naxal insurgents in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, according to a police spokesperson.


The firefight commenced early in the morning within the wooded hills of the Bhairamgarh-Indravati region, as a team from the District Reserve Guard was conducting an anti-Naxalite mission based on intelligence regarding Maoist activity in the vicinity.


The exchange of gunfire is ongoing, and additional information is expected soon.


Earlier, police reported that three Naxalites, including a female member, were neutralized in a separate encounter in Sukma district on Thursday, with a total bounty of Rs 12 lakh on their heads.
