Clash Erupts at Ambedkar University During Student Orientation

Violence Breaks Out at Orientation Event

New Delhi, August 7 - A violent confrontation occurred at Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) during an orientation event for new students, involving supporters of the left-leaning All India Students Association (AISA) and the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). AISA issued a statement claiming that ABVP members attacked its activists during the orientation for first-year MA Political Science students. The incident reportedly took place after faculty members had left the venue, while AISA members were engaging with new students.

AISA alleged that an ABVP member physically assaulted its activists and threatened them with violence if they continued their political activities within the department. The organization also claimed that campus security arrived late and failed to intervene during the altercation, instructing AISA members to stop recording videos. According to AISA, the conflict was sparked by recent notifications from the university administration, which mandated prior permission for any gatherings on campus.

The organization contended that these measures were aimed at stifling democratic activities among students.
