CJP's Planned Protest at Jantar Mantar
The Cockroach People's Party (CJP) is set to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, voicing concerns over alleged irregularities in the country's examination system. Issues such as repeated paper leaks, the NEET controversy, and the lack of transparency in competitive exams will be highlighted. The demonstration is scheduled to commence at 1 PM, where party members will symbolically express their dissent by clanging plates and spoons.
Demands for Government Intervention
Abhijit Dipke, the founder of CJP, has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to intervene in matters related to the education system. In his letter, he has requested the government to provide ₹1 crore in compensation to the families of students who reportedly committed suicide amid examination-related disputes. The party is advocating for a fair investigation into paper leak incidents within a stipulated timeframe, justice and support for students affected by the NEET controversy, enhanced transparency and security in examinations, and robust policy measures to safeguard student interests.
Calls for Resignation of Education Minister
CJP leaders are also demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In a video message released on Friday, Dipke did not specify what actions would be taken in response to the appeals made during the 2020 pandemic. He simply urged all participants in the upcoming protest to bring a plate and a spoon. He claims that the recurring controversies surrounding examinations have eroded the trust of students and parents. Notably, social activist Sonam Wangchuk is expected to join the protest, having shared information about the event on social media and expressed his support for addressing student issues and improving education.
Security Measures for the Protest
The Delhi police have implemented stringent security measures for the protest. CCTV cameras have been installed around Jantar Mantar, and officers will utilize approximately 270 body-worn cameras to monitor and record activities. Multiple layers of barricading have been set up in the protest area and surrounding roads. Security has also been heightened at major transport hubs, including Indira Gandhi International Airport, railway stations, interstate bus terminals, and border points.
