CIA Whistleblower Alleges Illegal Monitoring of Analysts Investigating COVID-19 Origins

A CIA special operations officer testified before Congress on Wednesday, claiming that the agency unlawfully surveilled the phones and computers of analysts probing the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. James Erdman stated, "The CIA did not provide the necessary information to clarify the violations of analytic standards within the agency." He further asserted that the CIA engaged in illegal monitoring of the computer and phone activities of personnel from the Director's Initiatives Group (DIG), including their investigations and communications with whistleblowers. Erdman emphasized that these actions involved American citizens being spied on while fulfilling duties authorized by the president and the Director of National Intelligence.
Additionally, Erdman called for a thorough review of US-funded life science research and suggested reverting to pre-9/11 definitions regarding gain-of-function and weapons of mass destruction research. His public testimony occurred a day after Senator Rand Paul indicated that the true origins of COVID-19 would soon be revealed.

Senator Paul announced the whistleblower's testimony through various social media channels and a press release, stating that the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee would hold a full hearing to hear from the whistleblower, who is expected to reveal the cover-up regarding the origins of COVID-19 and the lack of transparency from government entities. Paul remarked, "The deep state is still concealing the origins of this virus," during an interview with a tabloid. The identity of the whistleblower remains undisclosed prior to the hearing, but he is reportedly a CIA veteran with over two decades of experience, having worked in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. He is believed to have been part of a group that analyzed the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and is anticipated to assert that the CIA withheld critical information from the public about the virus.
In a conversation with Fox News, Paul expressed confidence that the whistleblower would corroborate that the origins of the virus were known for a long time, asserting that CIA scientists concluded the virus originated from a laboratory. He also mentioned that some members of the intelligence community are still reluctant to disclose the truth.
