Chirag Paswan's Take on AIMIM's Alliance Proposal

Chirag Paswan, a central minister, has reacted to a letter from the Bihar president of AIMIM, which was addressed to RJD chief Lalu Yadav, proposing the inclusion of AIMIM in the Grand Alliance. He remarked that the RJD and its leaders are losing their grip on the Muslim vote, which is already fragmenting. Paswan questioned how AIMIM's legislators managed to win in the previous assembly elections if there had not been a division of votes. He pointed out that the MY (Muslim-Yadav) equation, which the RJD has relied on to promote communalism and casteism, is now making the community realize that they are merely being used as a vote bank. They no longer wish to be exploited.

Paswan clearly stated that Muslims are now aligning with the NDA. He emphasized that efforts are being made to prevent the fragmentation of the Muslim vote. BJP MP Manan Kumar Mishra commented that whether it is Asaduddin Owaisi, RJD, or Congress, all engage in communal politics, making their coming together a normal occurrence, although it seems challenging at the moment. Until now, Congress and RJD have referred to Owaisi as the B-team of PM Modi. However, he asserted that the BJP's voter base in Bihar will remain intact, regardless of whether CM Mamata Banerjee visits the state; nothing will change. The NDA is poised to form the government in the 2025 Bihar elections.

It is noteworthy that AIMIM aims to join the Grand Alliance to create a united front and consolidate minority votes for the upcoming Bihar elections at the end of this year. Sources indicate that the AIMIM leader and MLA Akhtarul Iman has sent a letter to RJD chief Lalu Yadav, requesting the Hyderabad-based party's inclusion in the Grand Alliance.

In the letter, Iman stated that contesting elections together would ensure that secular votes do not scatter, thereby providing the Grand Alliance with a better chance of forming the next government. However, he also mentioned that delaying the decision on AIMIM's inclusion in the Grand Alliance would be seen as a lost opportunity for the RJD. Iman noted that discussions have been held with RJD, Congress, and other parties in the Grand Alliance regarding their collaboration, and a proposal has been sent. He urged them to make a decision soon.
