Chirag Paswan Questions TMC's Participation in INDIA Bloc Meeting

Chirag Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party, has voiced his surprise at the participation of the Trinamool Congress in the INDIA Bloc meeting, despite previous criticisms from Congress leaders. He highlighted the internal conflicts within the coalition, particularly referencing the betrayal of the DMK by Congress. Paswan's comments suggest that the alliance is merely a facade to hide the weaknesses of its members. As senior leaders gather for the meeting in Kerala, the agenda remains undisclosed, raising questions about the effectiveness of such gatherings in the political landscape.

Chirag Paswan's Remarks on the INDIA Bloc

On Monday, Chirag Paswan, the Union Minister and leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (RV), expressed his astonishment at the participation of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), leftist parties, and several others in the INDIA Bloc meeting, despite existing differences with Congress. Speaking to reporters, Paswan noted his surprise at TMC chief Mamata Banerjee's attendance.

He referenced Rahul Gandhi's criticism of Mamata Banerjee during the West Bengal election campaign, stating that Congress had betrayed its ally, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), for power. Paswan suggested that the apparent rifts within the INDIA Bloc indicate that such meetings lack significance.

Paswan remarked that it is natural for the DMK to be upset after Congress's betrayal. He expressed disbelief that Mamata Banerjee would attend the meeting after being insulted by Rahul Gandhi during the Bengal elections, suggesting that this coalition serves merely as a means to conceal each other's shortcomings. He emphasized that this is why the alliance has not yet succeeded, citing historical instances where coalitions have betrayed one another for personal gain.

Several senior leaders of the INDIA Bloc are arriving in Kerala for the coalition meeting. Meanwhile, CPI General Secretary D. Raja stated that the leftist parties would raise issues regarding statements made by Congress leadership against the Left Democratic Front (LDF) during the Kerala Assembly elections. Raja also mentioned that Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the INDIA Bloc, has yet to disclose the agenda for the meeting.
